Addressing the BRICS Future Cities Forum in Moscow, the Governor of Gilan Province called for increased cooperation among member nations to combat pressing environmental challenges, particularly those threatening the Caspian Sea.

According to Baran Press, Governor Hadi Haghneshas emphasized the critical need for smart water resource management and the application of modern technologies to preserve the Caspian Sea ecosystem and its vital coastal wetlands.

He highlighted transnational cooperation as essential for tackling environmental crises, asserting that the Caspian Sea region presents a valuable platform for synergy and collaboration among nations.

Governor Haghneshas identified the alarming fluctuations in the Caspian Sea’s water level as a major concern, noting a significant drop of 2.6 meters over the past century. This has resulted in the drying of wetlands, posing threats to public health, food security, and the livelihoods of communities along the coast.

استاندار گیلان در سخنرانی خود در مجمع شهرهای آینده بریکس در مسکو، خواستار افزایش همکاری بین کشورهای عضو برای مقابله با چالش‌های زیست‌محیطی – به ویژه آن‌هایی که دریای خزر را تهدید می‌کنند – شد.

به گزارش باران پرس، هادی حق‌شناس، استاندار گیلان، بر نیاز مبرم به مدیریت هوشمند منابع آب و استفاده از فناوری‌های نوین برای حفظ اکوسیستم دریای خزر و تالاب‌های ساحلی حیاتی آن تأکید کرد.

وی همکاری فراملی را برای مقابله با بحران‌های زیست‌محیطی ضروری دانست و اظهار داشت که منطقه دریای خزر بستری ارزشمند برای هم‌افزایی و همکاری بین ملت‌ها ارائه می‌دهد.

حق شناس تغییرات نگران‌کننده سطح آب دریای خزر را از مهم‌ترین چالش‌های زیست‌محیطی منطقه عنوان کرد و گفت: در یک قرن اخیر سطح آب خزر ۲.۶ متر کاهش داشته است. این تغییرات موجب خشکی تالاب‌ها، تهدید سلامت عمومی، امنیت غذایی و به خطر افتادن معیشت جوامع محلی شده است.
