Iran’s Minister of Tourism is pushing to increase the number of Iraqi tourists and students, despite local protests in Hamedan regarding the behavior of Iraqi students. The Minister’s initiative comes amid concerns over the “immoral behavior” exhibited by Iraqi students at Bu-Ali University, including reports of inappropriate proposals made to female students.

According to CHTN, The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts has declared that with the implementation of a new agreement with Iraq, the capacity of road travel from Basra to various Iranian cities will rise, predicting that the number of Iraqi visitors will reach five million from the current 3.5 million.

Salehi-Amiri gave news of his travel to Baghdad for finalizing and signing the memoranda of understanding, adding that, fortunately, Iraqis are currently traveling to the cities of Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, Kish, Rasht, and other cities in Iran.

The Iran-Iraq tourism cooperation focuses on religious, sightseeing, medical, and scientific tourism, with a prioritization of university exchanges between the two countries.  وزیر گردشگری ایران، علی‌رغم اعتراضات محلی در همدان در مورد رفتار دانشجویان عراقی، در تلاش برای افزایش تعداد گردشگران و دانشجویان عراقی است. این ابتکار وزیر در بحبوحه نگرانی‌ها در مورد «رفتار غیراخلاقی» دانشجویان عراقی در دانشگاه بوعلی، از جمله گزارش‌هایی مبنی بر پیشنهاد نامناسب به دانشجویان دختر، صورت می‌گیرد.

صالحی امیری از سفر خود به بغداد برای نهایی کردن و امضای تفاهم‌نامه‌ها خبر داد و افزود که خوشبختانه عراقی‌ها در حال حاضر به شهرهای مشهد، اصفهان، شیراز، کیش، رشت و سایر شهرهای ایران سفر می‌کنند.

همکاری گردشگری ایران و عراق بر گردشگری مذهبی، گردشگری سیاحتی، پزشکی و علمی با اولویت تبادلات دانشگاهی بین دو کشور متمرکز است. این ابتکار در حالی در حال انجام است که مردم همدان به دلیل رفتار توهین‌آمیز دانشجویان عراقی، خواستار اخراج آنها هستند. / باران پرس
