Four Iranian nationals held in prisons in the Republic of Azerbaijan have been transferred to Gilan to serve the remainder of their sentences, Iran’s Justice Ministry said on Saturday.

According to Baran Press, the resumption of prisoner transfers between Iran and Azerbaijan after a three-year halt signals a thaw in judicial cooperation.

Justice Minister, said the prisoners were handed over to authorities in Iran’s northern Gilan province to complete their sentences.

The prisoner transfer agreement between Iran and Azerbaijan had been on hold for three years before being revived with this exchange. / IRNA

 چهار ایرانی زندانی در آذربایجان به مقامات قضایی گیلان تحویل داده شدند

وزارت دادگستری ایران روز شنبه اعلام کرد: چهار تبعه ایرانی که در زندان‌های جمهوری آذربایجان نگهداری می‌شدند، برای گذراندن بقیه دوران محکومیت خود به گیلان منتقل شده‌اند.

به گزارش باران پرس، از سرگیری انتقال زندانیان بین ایران و آذربایجان پس از سه سال توقف، نشان دهنده بهبود همکاری‌های قضایی است.

وزیر دادگستری گفت: این زندانیان برای تکمیل دوران محکومیت خود به مقامات استان گیلان در شمال ایران تحویل داده شدند.

توافقنامه انتقال زندانیان بین ایران و آذربایجان به مدت سه سال متوقف شده بود تا اینکه با این تبادل، دوباره احیا شد. / ایرنا
