Addressing the BRICS Future Cities Forum in Moscow, the Governor of Gilan Province called for increased cooperation among member nations to combat pressing environmental challenges, particularly those threatening the Caspian Sea.

Gilan Province Governor Dr. Haghshenas is leading a high-level delegation in Moscow this week, representing Iran at the BRICS Future Cities Forum. The Governor arrived in Moscow on Wednesday, September 17th.

In order to participate in the BRICS International Summit, Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, and Rahim Shoghi, the Mayor of Rasht, traveled to Brazil to represent the Islamic Republic of Iran joined mayors from 26 countries.

The mayor of Rasht said: Rasht will be effective in the BRICS cooperation, by using its tourism, cultural, environmental and strategic potentials.

In a meeting with the Russian delegation, the Rasht mayor announced that a new route between Rasht and Astrakhan will soon be launched for increased economic contacts.

In order to participate in the BRICS International Summit, the mayor and the member of the Islamic Council of Rasht city went to Russia.
