In separate telephone calls following the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, the prime ministers of Japan and Pakistan have spoken with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to TEHRAN TIMES, while Japan stressed the urgency of reducing tensions and ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, Pakistan received Tehran’s formal confirmation that it will take part in upcoming negotiations in Islamabad.

According to a statement from the Japanese Prime Minister’s office, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi welcomed the recent joint announcement by the United States and Iran on a ceasefire as a positive development.

The Japanese leader further noted that the most critical issue now is to steadily achieve reduced tensions, including ensuring navigational safety through the Strait of Hormuz. She expressed hope that a final agreement would be reached swiftly through diplomatic channels.

In a separate call, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked Iran for its wisdom and constructive stance in accepting Pakistan’s proposal for a temporary ceasefire and subsequent negotiations with the United States.

President Pezeshkian, in turn, appreciated the efforts of senior Pakistani officials in helping to broker the temporary truce and extended his best wishes to the people of Pakistan.

Crucially, the Iranian president confirmed that the Islamic Republic will participate in the upcoming talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad, paving the way for the next phase of diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington.
