Governor General of Gilan, Hadi Haghshenas has censured a provincial official for insulting journalists and dismiss him. Baran Press: Haghshenas told reporters that he has sacked Mohammad Pourkhosh Saadat, the governor of the port city of Anzali, over his insult to journalists. Last week, Pourkhosh Saadat used insulting language when he criticized media members for failing to raise awareness on the situation of Anzali Wetland. Haghshenas who is the top government official in Gilan Province, said that the media members are respectable and should engage in what he called fair criticism over existing issues and challenges. Rasht residents and officials commemorated the 103rd anniversary of the martyrdom of Mirza Kuchak Khan Jangali on December 2nd, 2024, with a ceremony held in the Soleyman-Darab neighborhood. According to Baran Press, Mirza Yunus Ostad Sara'i, known as Mirza Kuchak Khan Jangali (1880-1921) was a prominent early 20th-century revolutionary and national hero who led the Nehzat-e Jangal (Jungle Movement), a significant rebellion based in the forests of Gilan province. The movement, active from 1914 to 1921, opposed both domestic and foreign adversaries until its dissolution following Mirza Kuchak Khan's death. Gilan province has made history with the appointment of " Ismat Mohammad Dost " as the governor of Khomam city. According to Baran Press, the appointment, announced via a decree from Hadi HaghShenas, the Gilan governor, marks a significant milestone, as Ms. Mohammad Dost is the first woman to hold a governorship in Gilan province since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Ms. Mohammad Dost previously served as governor of Khomam's central district.
